WHERE TO GO ON YOUR SEPTEMBER GETAWAYPosted 6 September 2019 by The Saucy Fish Co.
The kids are back at school, which means that the airlines are charging less for their flights. It’s unfair we know, but it does create the perfect opportunity for non-parents to grab a bargain and get away to somewhere nice. We’ve got five suggestions for where you can go and enjoy a little more sun and fun.
The South of France
Whether it’s coastal Nice or the castle walls of Carcassonne, the South of France is still warm and lovely in September and most of the touristy things to do are still open. Go for the culture, the glamour and, above all, the food – those French sure know how to cook fish.
Still sunny, still spectacular and still relatively cheap in September: Greece is a great place to visit. From breath-taking small islands to something more urban near Athens, you simply can’t go wrong with a week spent bouncing between beach and taverna.
You know how crowded the Costa Brava can be in the summer. Imagine all those miles of amazing sand but devoid of tourists, meaning you can put your towel wherever you want. The further South you go the warmer it’s likely to be, but there are so many options to choose from, you’re bound to find your Hispanic paradise.
In the past few years Croatia has become a major tourist destination for Brits and it’s easy to see why: the sun, the warm welcome and the interesting history. Go see where King’s Landing was filmed for Game of Thrones in Split. Relax on the gorgeous island of Hvar or simply spend some time exploring Zagreb.
And why not? Britain’s classic seaside town is still a brilliant place to visit and, with fewer kids around, it means you can enjoy the rides and ice creams without having to queue for hours. We can’t guarantee great weather but you’ll have a very good time and some excellent fish and chips.
